People have been gifting flowers to loved ones for thousands of years, dating back to ancient Egypt. Artwork from that period shows flowers being laid on tombs and offered to the dead. Even though flowers have been used as gifts for centuries, their symbolism varies depending on the culture.

As a florist, you want to offer your clients innovative and unique ways to present bouquets. Your hand-wrapped bouquets should look attractive and professional. You can use floral paper to elevate any bouquet, resulting in a unique and thoughtful gift.

This blog will discuss our top seven creative flower wraps. Learn how to easily wrap flowers and transform affordable assortments into a stunning arrangement.

1. Classic Diagonal Wrap

The traditional diagonal wrapping technique for floral gift wrapping gives your bouquet a clean look. What we love about this DIY flower wrapping method is that you can use multiple materials for it - it's all up to your preference. Common types of floral paper you can use include:

  • Kraft paper
  • Cellophane
  • Non-Woven Sheets

Take your piece of floral paper and cut it in half. The folded piece of paper should be around the same size or a bit longer than your bouquet. Remove any excess.

Use your scissors to cut a half circle at the bottom of the fold. Keep in mind that it should result in a hole in the middle of the paper. Unfold the paper and put your floral bouquet diagonally in one of the corners.

Take the opposite lower corner of the paper and lay it on top of the flowers. Drag the corners down so they're not completely covered. You can use your creativity to decide how to fold that corner.

Once you're happy with your design, tie the bouquet with ribbon or string. The stem ends should be completely covered by the paper.

2. Layered Tissue Paper Wrap

You can create a multi-layered and soft effect using different colors of tissue paper. Follow these instructions to create this wrap:

  • Place your stack of tissue paper on a flat surface
  • Fold each side in a 45-degree angle
  • Place your bouquet in the center
  • Repeat with the same or different colors of tissue paper
  • Place the tissue paper around the stems so it's covered on all sides
  • How to create a soft, multi-layered effect using different colors of tissue paper
  • Secure with ribbon or raffia

What we love about this option is you can customize it depending on the event and occasion. You can also add a layer of cellophane over the top to protect the tissue paper.

3. Rustic Brown Paper with Floral Accents

You can combine kraft paper with accents for an eco-friendly and charming look. We recommend following the steps to wrap your bouquet as we outlined in option #1. Once you've wrapped your bouquet, add some of these personalized accents:

  • Ribbon
  • Berries
  • Dried flowers
  • Charms

These items can be attached to the string or ribbon that you used to secure the bouquet.

4. Cone-Shaped Bouquet Wrap

A geometric cone-shaped wrapper is perfect for small bouquets or single stems. We recommend using heavy-duty poster board when creating this design. Materials like cardstock or plain paper won't be strong enough to withstand moisture and weight.

Carefully fold the poster board into a cone shape. Secure the ends with tape to ensure it doesn't fall apart. You can place a moistened paper towel at the bottom of the cone for added moisture.

5. Washi Tape Embellished Wrap

Washi tape is the best accessory to use when elevating a floral wrap. Washi tape comes in various designs, such as:

  • Seasonal
  • Floral
  • Foliage
  • Hearts
  • Stars

You can apply the washi tape in different spots on the paper wrap. You may want to experiment with placing it around the edges of the paper. Another option would be to put the tape in different shapes, such as a star or heart.

6. Printable Floral Wrapper

Add personality to your floral paper by exploring printable wrappers. You can customize your bouquets by exploring many of the options that are available online. All you have to do is follow these steps:

  • Download and print the design onto cardstock or sturdy paper
  • Cut out the floral wrapper according to the instructions
  • Use double-sided tape to secure it
